WELCOME!

Welcome to Historic Rail Maps of New Jersey! I put this site together to share my custom-drawn track maps of New Jersey railroads. There are lots of track maps to view, and complete collections are available for download in PDF format.

I have a life-long passion for railroad and industrial history, and I'm particularly drawn to New Jersey's many abandoned railroad lines. Many of these have disappeared without a trace, so through extensive research, I've set out to bring these old rail lines back to life through detailed maps.  Drawn to scale and presented in the context of modern roads and landscape features, I've tried to document not only where the lines were, but also every switch, siding, and yard. Every map contains historic information about station locations, junctions, lineside industries, construction details, and operations.

NEW RELEASE!  Historic Rails Of The Jersey Central's Seashore and Freehold Branches has been released! This was a decades long research project of my "hometown" railroads here in Monmouth County. New design software allowed me to present this collection in full color and clearly presented in the context of what is there today.

Also available for download is a two volume digital edition of my first book - Historic Rails Of The NYS&W.  It was originally published in 2009, and has been out of print for some time.

I'm currently working on mapping out several more historic New Jersey rail lines. I'll be sharing previews on the Facebook page soon. Follow us on Facebook at "Historic Railroad Maps of New Jersey".

I always love to hear from my fellow New Jersey railfans. If there are any particular rail lines you'd be interested in seeing mapped out, please drop me a note at historicrailmaps@gmail.com
